“Those who remain unteachable will not get promoted.”  Wise words I heard in my dream as I opened my eyes to a little dose of reality.  In my dream, I stood before an amazing group of performers.  I watched them lead people in wave of an emotional musical masterpiece that peaked in an intense crescendo and exploded the room of onlookers in joyful elation.

However, as I watched from my vantage point in this dream, somewhat distant from the crowd, the Lord spoke to me and said, “Tell the gentleman on the far left of stage that he needs lessons…and then buy them for him…he wants a promotion and I want him to have it.”

I love when God tells me clearly to do something for another, even if I am asleep!  I complied…willingly.  I sought the most talented professional in his field and presented to the man exactly what God had spoken to me, “The Lord said that you were praying for a promotion. Here is a person who will teach you how to get there.”

“I don’t want your assistance”, replied the gentleman. “Don’t you see that we brought this crowd to its knees without your help?  I can do this all by myself.”

Know-it-all brats don’t get promoted and neither do unteachable leaders.

Before I stepped away in disbelief, I spoke…”There is a position that I want to take by the end of this year.  It’s a position in my life that I have aspired to for as long as I can remember, yet it was always unattainable and out of my reach. Today, it is so close I can tasted it. Am I just sitting around, believing that it is mine, and praying for the best?  NO!  I am studying the Word of God, I am remaining teachable, I am listening to my mentors, and I am reading every book I can on the matter…because in my current state, I am not mature enough for this position that God has promised me. To sit around and merely hope for it without action would leave my hands empty of it in the end. I want to be fit for the kingdom work to which I was called. Know-it-all brats don’t get promoted and neither do unteachable leaders.  Even leaders must follow someone.”

The teacher that had come to bless the man walked away, as did I…and I woke up from my dream…

“Those who remain unteachable will not get promoted”

If you are a leader now, in a place of position and authority…who are you also following? Are you desiring for something more than the same daily routine that you have become accustomed to?  Are you ok with your little space and your bubble of existence?  If so, then kudos to you…you, my friend, have ARRIVED…but for the rest of us seeking to move past the umbrella, we are going to stand in the rain and LEARN to grow and move and in Him have our being.  THE SKY IS THE LIMIT!
