Have you ever knitted anything, or even been as brave to attempt to weave something together? How bout quilting? Or, for all the men in the house, putting things together that don’t look like they belong, small pieces of a project that when spread apart look like they could never amount to anything alone, but once joined, create a masterpiece.

tapestry2We take on projects, sometimes leaving God completely out of the picture. We try to put things together that don’t belong. We attempt in all our might to create a life for ourselves that may not be completely in God’s will for us. And we run ourselves RAGGED!

Exodus 36:8-18 – All the skillful men among those who were performing the work made the tabernacle with ten curtains; of fine twisted linen and blue and purple and scarlet material, with cherubim, the work of a skillful workman, Bezalel made them. The length of each curtain was twenty-eight cubits and the width of each curtain four cubits; all the curtains had the same measurements. He joined five curtains to one another and the other five curtains he joined to one another. He made loops of blue on the edge of the outermost curtain in the first set; he did likewise on the edge of the curtain that was outermost in the second set. He made fifty loops in the one curtain and he made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that was in the second set; the loops were opposite each other. He made fifty clasps of gold and joined the curtains to one another with the clasps, so the tabernacle was a unit. tapestry1Then he made curtains of goats’ hair for a tent over the tabernacle; he made eleven curtains in all. The length of each curtain was thirty cubits and four cubits the width of each curtain; the eleven curtains had the same measurements. He joined five curtains by themselves and the other six curtains by themselves. Moreover, he made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that was outermost in the first set, and he made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that was outermost in the second set. He made fifty clasps of bronze to join the tent together so that it would be a unit.

tapestry4So that it would be a UNIT, joined together by GOD, at HIS command, not the command of the people. Did you get that? We seek worldly pleasures, to try to satisfy the desires of our hearts, but God knows our desires and wants to weave the most beautiful tapestry there is, IF we SEEK Him first! Listen here, in the next verse, the Concordance has many meanings for the word “SEEK” but one really stood out to me… “To Hold Accountable”. We can hold God accountable to the promises for our lives, because His Word NEVER returns void! He is not a man that He should lie! So SEEK Him!

Deuteronomy 4:29 – But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Weave together your tapestry, but don’t get so hung up on the approval of others, your own perfectionism, and your frustrations that may actually halt the project altogether. Let God do HIS work, seek His face above ALL things!
