I used to wrack my brain by trying to think about silly things that couldn’t be figured out by my little mind. How big is the universe? How many stars are there? What can you catch, but not throw? What is the speed of darkness? How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage? Where do East and West meet? You get the point. I got the answer to one of these questions….East and West can never meet. It’s like God’s forgiveness. Once He forgives, he forgets. So WHY in the world do I hold onto to my past and ponder it the way I ponder these questions above? It’s forgiven and forgotten.
I am sometimes tempted to remind others and myself of past mistakes. Unfortunately, that happens a lot behind closed doors. Hurting people hurt people…Plain and Simple. I am a human and I make human mistakes, but this reminds me that God forgives me and I need to forgive…and FORGET.
Ephesians 2:4-5 – But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved.
Jesus has every reason to kick me to the curb because of the way I used to be. But He doesn’t!! I am the blood bought precious child of a King and He forgot the second I asked for forgiveness. It’s not my stuff to hold onto anymore.

To further your reading, and to dive a bit deeper, consider this from
Psalm 103:11-12 – For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; 12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
He remembers our sin NO MORE! So why do we hold ourselves hostage to it? STOP IT already! Move on and move up and get on out of that valley and start heading for the mountaintop!
