I love the “Transformer” movies. So much about those movies touch me on many levels. Maybe it’s the constant battle between the Decepticons, who have the power to destroy earth and annihilate all who live on the tiny blue planet, and the Autobots, who are dead set on saving their own and the inhabitants of earth from evil. It’s a great example of the spiritual battles we face everyday. At one point in the script, humanity begins to question the integrity of the mighty fighting forces that are keeping them safe, the Autobots, and doubt lingers as to the competence of the beings meant to guard against evil forces. Good verses evil when the light meets the dark and trust is lost to the recesses of our carnal minds.

transform3John 12:35 (AMP) – So Jesus said to them, You will have the Light only a little while longer. Walk while you have the Light (keep on living by it), so that darkness may not overtake and overcome you. He who walks about in the dark does not know where he goes (he is drifting).

Jesus is the Light of the world. He has two powers, the power to save and the power to transform. The getting saved part is easy for most, but are we truly prepared and willing to be transformed? In the movies, the Transformers go from sleek looking, super fine road candy one minute to magnificent fighting machines the next. Jesus doesn’t ask us to get saved just to sit around and wait for eternity from the comfort of our everyday life, He wants us to transform into soldiers ready for battle! In the movie, the transformation looks painful, all those moving mechanical parts fitting seamlessly into joints and rivets and shifting around at breakneck speeds to form solid pieces of a well tuned machine. Even though it looks painful, it still looks easy and it’s lightning speed. Sometimes I wish I could slow down the track to see it all move piece by piece, but I’m astonished by the whole thing that I forget. Our transformation takes a bit more time, and it is excruciating. In the process, we are required to change our character, our behaviors, our entire mindset.

transform4For some, that is the very excuse used to stay in the dark. Some people do not like the Light, it’s too painful when truth is revealed. They are comfortable skating around in the dark when the Light is just on the other side of their line in the sand. They have

faked it long enough and their comfortable pain has not yet exceeded the pain that it takes to transform. So they stay road candy and never get a real chance to fight. For others, the real soldiers on the battlefield, it’s a decision worth making. Everything else has not worked. Transformation seems like a cozy vacation compared to what they have endured without the armor of God. Piece by piece, they allow Jesus in to the darkness of their hearts and they feel their blood pumping from the supernatural energy that comes from our Divine Source of Light. They are then armed and ready and no weapon formed against them can prosper, even when others in society turn a blind eye to the power that now rests in them.

To further your reading, consider this from:

Romans 12:2 (AMP) – Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].

Jesus paid it all and died in our place so we could be set free from the dark. We already fight from victory, so why not go through the painful process? Why not? What is so hard when the battle has already been won? Throw off the need to gain approval from others and change! Are you saved, or are you transformed?
