I have writer’s block. I have SO much going on in my life that I can’t even put pen to paper regarding the many situations that surround me. Some good, some not so good. I wish I could get the memo from heaven that stormy weather is ahead before it gets here. I wish an alarm would go off on my phone and give me a warning. As I was standing outside this morning taking in the smell of the rain and the way the dark clouds looked against a blue sky as the storm passed to my south, I was reminded that storms come and go. Sometimes they wreak havoc on the places they pass over. Sometimes they bring much needed rain to desolate land. Sometimes I can catch them on the backside and thank God that it barely missed me. Some storms move very quickly and are gone before I can even get used to the rain. Some take their time and drop so much on top of the earth where I stand on that I can’t even see in front of me. Storms are a part of life. I’m in a storm this season; the rain is relentless, the thunder is deafening. HOWEVER, the blue sky is just on the other side of the dark clouds. The sun is shining! Jesus always remains!
Mark 4:35-40 – That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” 39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be Still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. 40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
Problems are going to come. If I surrender to the stress then the enemy wins. I love how my study Bible says this: “When a squall approaches, lean into the wind and trust God.” God brings the rain to HEAL me. He brings the clouds to remind me that He alone can handle all my problems. It only takes a split second sometimes for blue skies to turn gray. It is times in life where just waking up causes stress knowing what the day has in store. But I am here to tell you that there is power in the name of JESUS. Sometimes that is all I can eek out of my mouth when I feel like the winds around me are too strong but that is enough! He will always be there to comfort me and guide me. He is my shelter and refuge! I can be standing in the middle of a field surrounded by dark clouds, and not a drop of rain lands on me! That is what JESUS can do!

Isaiah 4:6 – It will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and rain.
I found this gem today after looking through some old journal entries. I’m not sure when it was written, but it is FOR ME TODAY! I have been in such a funk lately, until God reminded me today of my purpose and that I can, not in my own strength, but in HIS strength, do wonderful things that bring Him glory and honor and praise. Praise Him in the storm and watch your life and your perspective change in an instant! The SON will come!
