I am responsible before God for my actions. I cannot use my environment as an excuse to sin. I am free to make a choice to change my life and blaming others isn’t an option anymore. I am tired of repeating the mistakes of others. Only God can heal me by the blood Jesus shed for my sins on the cross, but I have to be willing to receive it.

stick1Zechariah 3:1-7 – Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him. 2 The Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is not this man a burning stick snatched from the fire?”

3 Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel.4 The angel said to those who were standing before him, “Take off his filthy clothes.”

Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put fine garments on you.”

5 Then I said, “Put a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him, while the angel of the Lord stood by.

6 The angel of the Lord gave this charge to Joshua: 7 “This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘If you will walk in obedience to me and keep my requirements, then you will govern my house and have charge of my courts, and I will give you a place among these standing here.

stick2I am being tested and tried and my heart is continually broken into a thousand pieces. My need for immediate action is sometimes overwhelming, but I must stand still and in that I find my strength.

You know, ALL our filthy clothes are replaced with robes of righteousness after we are snatched from the fire, so what in the world would ever make us want to turn back and look in the opposite direction for relief? Change is painful, but necessary in order to inherit God’s promises.

Inconsistent obedience cannot produce consistent blessings and I am tired of being inconsistent. I AM a burning stick snatched from the fire…so it’s past time to start walking in truth and light. God saves us…in SPITE of us and our past sins.

stick3 To further your reading, consider this from:

Jude 1:22-24 – Be merciful to those who doubt; 23 save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.

I was so wrong in falling into the quicksand of compromise. Is my footing steadfast and secure? Am I leading others by example and deeming them worthy of being snatched from the fire too, or am I quick to judge their heart as if it will never change?
