Isaiah 49:25-26 – “Yes, captives will be taken from warriors,
and plunder retrieved from the fierce;
I will contend with those who contend with you,
and your children I will save.
26 I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh;
they will be drunk on their own blood, as with wine.
Then all mankind will know
that I, the Lord, am your Savior,
your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.”

sold1I watched a girl graduate a while back from Jacob’s Well and envy flooded by soul. Memories of a past haunted me and crept into the parts of my mind that had long since been closed off. She is a military wife. Her husband had a choice when she was arrested and came into the program…leave her in the enemies camp to pursue his own interest or fight an unseen enemy and get back what it had stolen. He chose the latter. He took back what was rightfully his and retrieved her from relentless warriors. He got back a beautiful wife and mother. THAT is a man of honor! Military or no military, he realized his battle was not against flesh and blood.

sold2My first husband left me and I then pitched my own tent in the camp of my new landowner. I was envious because there is a part of me that yearns for the time with him back. The time before I ventured into uncharted land. To the time before I broke his heart over and over and over again. I don’t blame him for leaving me. I pray for him daily. When I drove away from North Dakota, leaving EVERYTHING behind after a tearful farewell and a signing of divorce papers, I had nothing. I felt nothing. I drove into nothing.

Isaiah 52:3 – “You were sold for nothing,
and without money you will be redeemed.”

sold3It wasn’t for some years, many years that passed, more sprints toward a finish line I couldn’t see that wore me down, that I finally allowed the Lord back into my life, I completely surrendered to His will, and my life was forever changed. I was bought back by my Savior and without one single cent. Now, the marathon is underway. Slow and steady finishes the race.

To further your reading, consider this from:

Hebrews 12:1 – Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

I hit one roadblock after another. I felt rejected. But no matter how hot it becomes, how hard the sun beats on me as I run, how tired and weary I get, the race is, in fact, still underway. I CANNOT live under the umbrella of what should have been, what could have been, what was meant to be. I am where I am BECAUSE my former husband chose the path of least resistance. I do have hope for a future that is bright. Because of my hope and the promises of God, my children will also be blessed. God is God alone and rejection is His protection!
