Opposition. What a scary word followed by countless blessings!! Have you ever watched people become so engrossed in another human being, then when that human makes one small mistake or does something…well, disgustingly HUMAN…then the person who was once engrossed has now left the party completely? I’ve watched people hang on every word of another, loving every single silly social media post they make as if it is the gospel. I have seen people bend over backwards, do everything they can to impress upon, and be outright stalkerish…then the dreaded mistake that the person who made it never did so out of haste or anger and may not even be aware that a mistake was even made comes and it’s like CRICKETS! THAT is opposition, and it is COMICAL!!! Since when did we become so judgmental and self-righteous? Seriously?

opposition2Ecclesiastes 9:1-6 – So I reflected on all this and concluded that the righteous and the wise and what they do are in God’s hands, but no one knows whether love or hate awaits them. 2 All share a common destiny—the righteous and the wicked, the good and the bad, the clean and the unclean, those who offer sacrifices and those who do not.

As it is with the good,
so with the sinful;
as it is with those who take oaths,
so with those who are afraid to take them.

3 This is the evil in everything that happens under the sun: The same destiny overtakes all. The hearts of people, moreover, are full of evil and there is madness in their hearts while they live, and afterward they join the dead. 4 Anyone who is among the living has hope—even a live dog is better off than a dead lion!

5 For the living know that they will die,
but the dead know nothing;
they have no further reward,
and even their name is forgotten.
6 Their love, their hate
and their jealousy have long since vanished;
never again will they have a part
in anything that happens under the sun.

We cannot change what we have done in life after we are gone. So many people have things to say about our decisions here on earth but please remind me of who will stand before Christ on judgment day…me AND you, or just you…and just me.

opposition1Opposition is ALWAYS followed by opportunity. The world seems to be out to get us, but that’s only perceived. The world is freaking BUSY doing what the world knows how to do. What are YOU doing? People have lives, they work off their own perceived threats, opposition comes and threatens to leave us in the water swimming for our lives. It’s SCARY to think that you may get left behind. It’s a horrible feeling to think that someone may despise you. It sucks to know that your very existence in your own little bubble is threatened by people you LOVE. What’s really going on? It’s OPPOSITION. It’s just a word, not something to be afraid of. But guess what. Opportunity cannot come by on its big fancy ship to rescue you if the waves of opposition are not there. Count it ALL joy! Love anyway. Put yourself aside and swim with all your might and NEVER GIVE UP! Don’t miss the boat because you are drowning in shallow water! This too shall pass. Who does GOD say you are? Then WALK in it!! And let FORGIVENESS reign FREE!!!!

Jeremiah 17:9-10 – The heart is deceitful above all things
and beyond cure.
Who can understand it? “I the Lord search the heart
and examine the mind,
to reward each person according to their conduct,
according to what their deeds deserve.”

I always say that we have a choice, everyday, on how we act, our feelings, how our feelings dictate our moods and responses, and what comes of every action we take. It is all a CHOICE and our choices show the true nature of our hearts. I am solely responsible for the choices I make. I don’t always make good choices. I am a sinner, gratefully saved by grace. But I do my best to not hurt people, to show love and compassion always, and to offer forgiveness around every turn, even when the waves of opposition are upon me. Our hearts are full of sin because we were born into a sinful nature, but we need to keep the CHOICE of forgiveness, of love’, of OTHERS, even when we fail miserably, we have a SAVIOR who can pick us back up!
