Psalm 78:32-39 – In spite of all this, they kept on sinning;
in spite of his wonders, they did not believe.
33 So he ended their days in futility
and their years in terror.
34 Whenever God slew them, they would seek him;
they eagerly turned to him again.
35 They remembered that God was their Rock,
that God Most High was their Redeemer.
36 But then they would flatter him with their mouths,
lying to him with their tongues;
37 their hearts were not loyal to him,
they were not faithful to his covenant.
38 Yet he was merciful;
he forgave their iniquities
and did not destroy them.
Time after time he restrained his anger
and did not stir up his full wrath.
39 He remembered that they were but flesh,
a passing breeze that does not return.
I am no longer a slave to the sin that held me bound in chains. I am free, I am forgiven, and it is forgotten!! Time to show the same grace and mercy to those around me! I was so undeserving, especially this late in life when I should have known better, but I get the same payment as all my brothers and sisters, before me and after me…A crown in heaven with many jewels that I can just throw at His feet. So many people walk around with nooses around their necks. They are lost to society, to fame, to fortune. They are slaves of their own making and they don’t even see. But God is so merciful and forgiving, if only we repent. There are steps to take in order to really live a repentant life.
Second, I must pray to God asking for forgiveness. This is where Godly sorrow comes in.
Worldly sorrow is feeling crappy because I got caught and being overly concerned with what others thought of me and not what God thought of me. Godly sorrow is the key to changed behavior.
Third, I must seek God all the time and in all that I do. When I put Him into the equation of every decision I make, it’s really hard for me to make bad decisions.
Nothing can break the communion I have with God when I seek Him with ALL MY HEART!
Fourth, I must turn from my wicked ways! I must BE the change that I desire. I must walk the walk and not just talk the talk. Saying “I am sorry” should have meaning behind it because the person I am speaking to will know of my character that I am a changed person, inside and out. We claim to follow God, but do we continue to turn away from Him? Make a commitment with your HEART and not your MOUTH to serve, obey, and follow Christ wherever He leads, even when you feel lost and confused and uncomfortable. God is so merciful and forgiving, so shouldn’t we be also?

To further your reading, consider this from:
Hosea 5:15 – Then I will return to my lair
until they have borne their guilt
and seek my face—
in their misery
they will earnestly seek me.”
Don’t wait until you are miserable and lost in your sin to seek God’s face. He is there and He already knows, so call out to Him before it is too late.
