Psalm 61:1-3 – Hear my cry, O God;
listen to my prayer.

2 From the ends of the earth I call to you,
I call as my heart grows faint;
lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
3 For you have been my refuge,
a strong tower against the foe.

where7Do you ever find yourself in places that you never would have imagined? I know a lot of missionaries who travel the globe, spreading the Gospel, reaching the lost. I can only imagine the things they must endure to reach souls in remote places who have NEVER even heard the name, Jesus. They traverse rugged terrain, ride in dingy boats up swollen rivers filled with unimaginable creatures for HOURS to reach places on the globe that have long ago been forgotten by the world, but that still inhabit tradition and human life. They suffer through earthquakes, tsunamis, disease, affliction, demonics, pagan worship, language barriers, torrential rains, droughts, heat waves, and storms to get to these people. But the brave missionaries are part of the Great Commission, called to go and make disciples of ALL nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Holy Spirit. Those missionaries are BRAVE, they are COURAGEOUS, and they are doing the Father’s will.

Can you even begin to fathom the attacks from the enemy’s camp as they do their bidding, their calling? I can.

where6Here is what I would like to you to know. David may have been far away from home when he said this prayer, but God knew where Davod was and is not attached to any geographical location. The question I have for you today. Where are you? We have work to do and not all of us are called into worldwide missions. But where are you in the space between your own head? Are you lost in a sea of unforgiveness, battling the unseen enemy atop a mountain of regret and shame? Are you trudging through jungles of fear and doubt? Are those things keeping you from being a solid example to the multitude who you have directly in front of you…the people who you don’t know are even watching your every move to see if this “Jesus thing” is for real? Do you feel miles away from God and have spent so long in the valley of despair that you can’t even see the rising of the sun as a gift from Him anymore? WHERE ARE YOU? Guess what?!?!

where5He sees your every move. He begs for you to call out to Him, to seek His face, to pray: “Lead me to the rock that is higher than I! Take me back to the place of belonging in my heart with you, O God! Remind me of my salvation and help me find rest under the shadow of your wings! Nothing can come against me! My foes are nothing to you! You see me and you know me, Lord! Thank you for never leaving me!”

To further your reading, consider this from:

Proverbs 18:10– The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

Safety. No matter where on the earth we are geographically located, no matter what valley we are in, or what mountain top we are crying out from in our hearts, we can call on the name of the Lord and find refuge! Do you realize that the word REFUGE is not found in the New Testament? CHRIST became our city of refuge, our safe place, our redemption! POWERFUL!!!
