Praise – express warm approval or admiration of; commend, express admiration for, applaud, pay tribute to, speak highly of, eulogize, compliment, congratulate, sing the praises of, rave about, go into raputures about, heap praises on.

praise2Are we giving God ALL our praise? When we pray, are we seeking our own agenda first or offering our sacrifice of praise before our needs are even thought about?

We have so many things to be thankful for. Just last week I had the awesome privelege of sitting in on the “Forgiveness Letter” ceremony at Jacob’s Well Recovery Center. It is a powerful representation of freedom from the bondage that holds us all back on most days, the sin of unforgiveness. To watch and listen as women pour their hearts out in forgiveness to their parents, their children, their rapists, molestors, abusers, drug dealers, and THEMSELVES is the most freeing thing even as a bystander. As I listened to countless women being delivered and prayed for the enemy’s hold on them to be loosened forever, praise3I was taken back. There was one woman who was so incredibly brave. As she sat in that chair and spoke forgiveness in a letter to her mom who had left her and committed suicide, I felt as if a bandaid was being ripped off an old wound that was still trying to heal. As I began to sob with her from the other side of the room, I remembered that I am no longer addicted to my own story that held me hostage for over 20 years, the suicide of my own dad. As I pondered the words she was saying, I was filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Where once was grief and sorrow was replaced with a desire to let her know that it was going to be ok! Because I am OK!

Psalm 57:8-11 – Awake, my soul!
Awake, harp and lyre!
I will awaken the dawn.

9 I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
I will sing of you among the peoples.
10 For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.

11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth.

praise1What an example David is showing us here! That no matter what, no matter the circumstance, no matter the pain, no matter the need (or even the want), NO MATTER WHAT…we are to open our eyes in joyous PRAISE! Isn’t God so faithful? Praise Him! Even in the storm, PRAISE!

To further your reading, consider this from:

Isaiah 55:8-9 – “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

How can we so easily turn away? If we ONLY KNEW what God had in store for us, we would be praising all day long!!! We cannot even attempt to fit God into a mold of our own making. We must live each day striving to fit into His plans, and not vice/versa.
