war41 Chronicles 5:18-22 – The Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh had 44,760 men ready for military service—able-bodied men who could handle shield and sword, who could use a bow, and who were trained for battle. 19 They waged war against the Hagrites, Jetur, Naphish and Nodab. 20 They were helped in fighting them, and God delivered the Hagrites and all their allies into their hands, because they cried out to him during the battle. He answered their prayers, because they trustedin him. 21 They seized the livestock of the Hagrites—fifty thousand camels, two hundred fifty thousand sheep and two thousand donkeys. They also took one hundred thousand people captive, 22 and many others fell slain, because the battle was God’s. And they occupied the land until the exile.

war1So many of us wake up daily and beg God to remove the spiritual war around us before our feet even hit the floor. What battle are YOU in today? Gosh, we may have instinct, cat-like reflexes. We may have the ability to make evil flee with the sword (the Word of God) that comes from our mouths. We may be skilled in diversion and we may use tactics like that of a soldier in a real war, but are we praying and seeking God’s direction? Are we crying out from the battlefield even when all seems lost? Are we trusting Him with the strengths and talents He has bestowed upon us AS WELL AS the outcome? Or are we stuck in the “I GOT THIS all by myself” mentality, puffed up with pride and relying on SELF to sustain us in battle?

God answers prayers that are formed from hearts that TRUST.

Psalm 20:7Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.

We cannot boast of our own power because that power does not last. Our battles can only be won through WORSHIP and in God’s power alone shall we put our confidence.
