1 Kings 8:22-23 – Then Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord in front of the whole assembly of Israel, spread out his hands toward heaven 23 and said: “Lord, the God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven above or on earth below—you who keep your covenant of love with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way.
By wordly standards and according to my character, it is very easy for me to overestimate my value. I begin to exalt myself according to the riches of the world’s standards being success, finances, a lucrative career, and achievements (even those achievements being used for the service of the Lord). I have to be very careful not to set myself up for a big ego trip by thinking more highly of myself than I ought.
My only real value is in Christ and who I am to Him and who He is in me. My value in kingdom standards is a direct result of how I choose to use my character. God knows my heart, through and through, and no amount of money, wealth, success, or worldly things can add up to the value he places on my heart and what comes out of it.
If I am evil and scheming, then I will be burned in the lake of fire because my spirit and heart will be of no value to God. Anything I put before Him decreases my value and I become detestable in His sight.
Getting praises from others feels so good to me, but is God in that? Am I using what He has given me for His service or for my own future gain? I need to see more clearly that everthing in life is just a bonus, but the condition of my heart is where the riches of life come from.

Daniel 9:4-5 – I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed:
“Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of lovewith those who love him and keep his commandments, 5 we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws.
God is merciful…even to rebellious people, IF they confess their sins and return to Him.
