It is my choice to serve God. I have choices to make everyday…what time to get up, what to eat, sugar or sweetner, what to wear, which earrings, what time to leave, where to go, who to talk to, how to talk to them, blue or black, up or down, left or right, which fork to use…you get the picture. Before Christ, my choices went like this…where to sleep, who to steal from, how much to steal, where to walk to, rest or no rest, which street to hussle from, drugs or alcohol, etc. All these choices are important and have a direct impact on my life, small or big, but the most important choice I will ever make is the choice to follow Jesus. I really don’t understand why people can choose the things of life on a daily basis, then make a huge deal around making choices for the Kingdom of God. At that point, it then has to be discussed, contemplated, mulled over, thought about, talked about, and cried over. Why is that? Do they just want people around them to know they are about to make a good choice? Why not just make it and move further into His grace? Hmmmmm….
I choose to follow God regardless of what others around me are doing. Though none go with me, I choose HIM. Who or what will control me today? I can choose blessings or curses. It’s up to ME. Deuteronomy 28 sums it up best. Plain and simple. In ink. Outlined for the world to read. Consequences of CHOICES.
Deuteronomy 28:1-2 – If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. 2 All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God.
Deuteronomy 28:15 – However, if you do not obey the Lord your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come on you and overtake you.
If I choose to do my own thing in my own way then I will not reap the rewards of being in constant fellowship with Jesus. I will sit idly by and watch the world go around me and lose my mind in the process of contemplating my bad choices. I will become angry, bitter, upset and unloving. Everything will begin to get on my nerves and I will not be happy and others around me will suffer.
One of my favorite pastor’s once said: “Sin will take you farther than you want to stray, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost more than you want to pay.”
Am I going to believe the world or am I going to believe God?

To further your reading, and to dive a bit deeper, consider this from John 11:25-26 – 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
Our spiritual life is something death cannot conquer. When we choose to commit our lives to Him, and we die to ourselves daily and take up His cross, then we will LIVE in true freedom!!!
