Galatians 6:8-9 (NIV) – Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction;whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
I woke up this morning and was taken away by the magnificent sight outside my window. What a glorious view, a view I have longed for! I saw before me a rugged pasture of hope, untilled ground ready for a planting, its vegetation growing wild over the landscape below but the field was still very much alive. It reminded me of the mission here itself, it’s humble beginnings etched in the visible, worn down outer structure, but the heart beat of it all is still vibrant and beats out love. The nature of those called into the mission field are also rugged in outward appearances but they are so ready to sow the seed. One question remains…how are we to sow into others if we are not being sowed into ourselves? How do we expect to plant in a harsh environment if we aren’t reaping what is being sowed into us? How do we set the example for the lost and see the field as fully ready for harvest if we are just getting by waiting on someone else to do it for us?
Ask of the LORD. Are you clearing the fields today? Are you sowing good seed? Are you reaping what has been sown into you? Are you making yourself ready for good seed to be planted? Or are you expecting the unexpected to just happen all on its own? God orders our steps, but we have to be willing to STEP out on faith to clear the field before us then reap the harvest that is ripe. Are you prepared to show someone the way through the rugged field and into the arms of Jesus? Or are you pushing people off due to judgment and religiousity?
The field is ready…are YOU?
