I was having a conversation with a beautiful woman of God the other day about answering to things we are called. I’m talking about names, stereotypes, and the like. WHEW…I can hardly think of the names I used to answer to because it’s too painful. I’m sure as an adult in this world reading this and knowing the situations I have put myself in, you can imagine well enough without me putting it ALL on paper. Don’t stay there long!! Today I hear God calling my NAME and it is ALL I hear resounding in my heart and my spirit as I write this. He doesn’t call me by my earthly name that my mother gave me. He calls me by the name He gave me when He announced MY birth to the angelic host in heaven. My name is VICTORY!!!!
Isaiah 43:1-7 – But now, this is what the Lord says – he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. 3 For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead. 4 Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because eI love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life. 5 Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children form the east and gather you from the west. 6 I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’ Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth – 7 everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”
I don’t answer to the horrific names I have been called. I’m not your girl, your trash, a loser, someone to be stepped on or stepped over. I’m not your enemy, a figment of your imagination, the hopeless addict, the helpless drunk, your lost cause, your pitiful excuse, or your person to feel sorry for. It’s not what I am called, it’s what I answer to. MY NAME IS JULIE AND I AM VICTORY! When God calls my name from heaven, I say “YES, LORD!” I run down the aisle of this game show called life and I go collect my eternal prize!
Isaiah 49:1-3 – Listen to me, you islands; hear this, you distant nations: Before I was born the Lord called me; from my mother’s womb he has spoken my name. 2 He made my mouth like a sharpened sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me into a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver. 3 He said to me, “You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will display my splendor.”
God has always thought of me as valuable and He has a purpose in mind just for me! I can hear His voice through others speaking to me IN LOVE for Christ. It’s such a beautiful sound!! I pray that as I speak to others they can hear THEIR God given name come out in the words that flow from my mouth! What a blessing and an honor to be used that way by our Lord.
Jeremiah 1:5 – “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
