more4I used to give God my options. I would limit myself on things I thought were good for me, then ask Him to bless them. Why do I always limit God on what He can do? It makes me laugh to think about it. I would sit back and hold out my hands with measly little requests and ask Him to bless them. I would hold onto to my options like they were the last thing on earth and I would BEG for Him to just pick one; just choose any one of my sad little hopes. It’s like a child who comes gleefully and with joy to their mom saying, “Pick a hand, any hand! I got you a present!” The mom goes on to pick knowing full well that inside those grubby, muddy, dirty, precious hands is probably something that might make her puke or scream. Sometimes it’s just a wilted flower. However; it all comes from love and from wanting to be accepted right then. The mom goes on to pick only to find a poor dying worm in the hand she chose and she gratefully with open arms tells the child it is the most beautiful present in the world because she loves her child and doesn’t want to hurt his feelings. God loves us too, but He is ok with telling us “NO, I’m not picking that hand. Open the curtain and listen to me and see what I have for YOU instead!”

more3Matthew 1:18-19 – This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. 19 Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

Joseph was a good man. His options were few. His fiance had become pregnant and he didn’t know by whom. Joseph loved Mary very much, but he was either going to have to send her packing or have her stoned publicly. WOW. Those are terrible options knowing what WE know how Mary came to be with child. So Joseph goes before the Lord and says, “Pick a hand. Any hand.” What does God do? He opens the curtain.

more2Matthew 1:20-21 – But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

moreWOW! I bet Joseph never saw that one coming. I sure didn’t see my circumstances changing in the radical ways they have. Sometimes I have to step out on FAITH and know that God has much bigger plans for me than what I can even dream or imagine!!

Ephesians 3:20 – Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.
